A selection of vector graphic images and exercises, illustrating points in Chapter 3, Introduction to Computer Graphics, and Chapter 4, Vector Graphics, of Digital Multimedia , and Chapter 6, Illustrator, Chapter 5, Flash and the section on Bézier curves of Chapter 10 of Digital Media Tools.

The examples were prepared in Illustrator, but Illustrator files can be imported into Flash*, and Flash's vector drawing tools can be used for some of the exercises, though not, perhaps, as easily as Illustrator's.

*In Flash MX 2004, for example, create a new movie, then select Import To Stage... from the Import sub-menu of the File menu. In the options dialogue, choose to convert layers to layers, and leave the rest of the options at their default values. (Make sure Rasterize Everything is not selected, otherwise the whole exercise will be rather pointless.) You may need to adjust the size of the stage to accommodate the imported image. For older versions of Flash, consult the manual.
