We are very sorry but we do not currently provide set answers to any of the exercises in Digital Multimedia. Many of the exercises do not have a single "correct" answer in any case - they are designed primarily to help students think about the problems. Some of the questions have many possible answers.
Assistance with answers or solutions is normally provided by the instructor or lecturer on a college course. We have found that many instructors do not wish to see publicly available answers on the web site because it makes it impossible for them to use the questions in tests.
We are currently reviewing this situation, and may possibly provide some sample answers in due course. We appreciate that many readers would like to be able to check their own answers on a web-based facility, but we have also to take into account the needs of courses which wish to use the exercises to test students without access to the answers.
Evaluation copies are only provided by the publishers to lecturers or instructors who are teaching or planning a course for which one or both of the books may be an appropriate text. If you belong to this category, the simplest way to request evaluation copies is by filling in the form provided on this site. We ask you for a small amount of information which is required by John Wiley's marketing department. Your request will be sent to an appropriate person at the publisher; they usually deal with requests promptly. In cases of doubt, they may contact you to verify your status as an instructor.
The times given below are estimates, but in most cases your evaluation copy should arrive within the specified time scale. If you have still not received your copy of the book after the time specified below, please contact us and we will chase it up for you.

Yes, certainly.
At present we regret that we do not have time to re-do the slides with further illustrations, although we may reconsider this later if there is sufficient demand. In the meantime we have therefore prepared the following guidelines for lecturers:
Some of the illustrations are copyright John Wiley & Sons Ltd (see 1 below), but others (listed on the copyright page of Digital Multimedia) are copyright MacAvon Media Productions and are taken from original work in various media previously unconnected with the book (see 2 below).
(1) A reasonable number of the illustrations copyright John Wiley & Sons Limited may be copied and used by college lecturers in lecture notes and slides, providing the source of the illustrations is acknowledged.
(2) A reasonable number of the illustrations copyright MacAvon Media Productions may be copied and used by lecturers in slides providing that the copyright and source of the material is acknowledged and, if the slides are made available on a college web site, access to this material is limited to students and staff by password or other logins.
Illustrations from the books may not be reproduced on publicly available web pages or sites, or reproduced for any purposes other than educational instruction without explicit permission from Wiley or MacAvon (please use the feedback form if you require such permission).
As all of this web site is open to the public we regret that we cannot provide digital source of all of the illustrations on this site, for obvious copyright reasons. Once again, if there is sufficient demand, it may be possible to supply the illustrations which are copyright John Wiley & Sons Ltd in digital form in the future.
It shouldn't be necessary to point this out, perhaps, but one obvious reason for limiting the amount of material from the books which is supplied freely in digital form is that our livelihood depends upon sales of the printed book ...
Please let us know using the feedback form. If the broken link is, in fact, a link to the feedback form, (which the only one we know about was) you'll have to go the long way round, by selecting Contacts in the main navbar.
We want to know about any errors that you find, so please use the feedback form to let us know about it.
